Beginnings, beginnings
“How long have you been thinking about this this?” I’m asked. “Depending on how you count, either eighteen months or my entire life,” I respond.
Count as you will, after some-ish time, as of now-ish I’ve become an associate of Good News Associates for the purposes of launching a free faith-based (Catholic!) home-visit primary care practice — for the medically complicated, the uninsured, the Hard Cases broadly defined.
I have so much to say about what I am doing, and I hope there are some people interested in hearing me say it!
To answer one of the first, obvious questions — since I will not be taking any kind of payment from my patients, I will be fundraising my costs via Good News Associates, and launching this Substack is part of that. Subscribing is free now and forever (donations must all go through GNA, and this is so new I don’t even know how to tell you to do that just yet!), but in order to share and connect, I plan to write a short post here every week-ish.
To start, I want to answer YOUR questions.
Do you need to know who I am? Why I’m qualified? What made me think of starting this crazy endeavor? What do I mean by a “faith based” medical practice? Who St. Hildegard is? What my dreams are? Whether I plan to quit my day job? Why this has anything to do with “good news” or “god” or anything like that? Why I’m Catholic when the Church has so many problems? It’s a free for all!
Ask me in the comments below or on Threads (@rosemary.zimmermann) and I will start off my blogging by working through the answers!
And PLEASE —
So very happy it is happening. Well done!
